Pamella Ngwabeni found herself hopping on the “Me vs” Facebook trend. A trend that started off as a way to expose people’s wrong doings, but for her, it was rather to appreciate her “big brother”, Mfundo Hashe.

“Me vs a man that took me in three days after living in the streets because my mom had a problem with my sexuality”, she said. Ngwabeni said Hashe did so despite not having a close relationship, and with only a few months of knowing each other from Arts School in Cape Town.

She says he was the first person to notice her wearing the same clothes to campus,” he lied and said we should go to his home, he had informed his parents already, when I got there, he snuck me at the back, we would eat his food, I would wear his clothes” she added.

Her welcoming to the family had a strange start. Hashe was accused of "vat en sit" by his sister who told on them to his parents” that moment I knew I was going to be kicked out again, I started crying, pleading to her (the sister) not to tell on us, we are friends”, Ngwabeni explained. Adding that when the parents were made aware of her circumstances, she was glad the sister had told on them as the parents turned out to be understanding.

Protecting his little sister, not only did the big brother go to the lengths of cutting off friends advising him to take advantage of her situation, but also kept a secret she says he knew would have crushed her, “ after few days my mother( biological) heard that I live with him, called him and asked him to convince me to stop was I was doing or kick me out, but this young man decided not to tell me that he had met up with my mother and told me after 10 years of knowing each other”, she added.

On the post, that has so far accumulated over 10k reactions, with over 500 comments and shared over 1.7K times, Ngwabeni described her big brother as a comedic comforter, saying she prays for him more than she does for herself.
